Fleet Completes Inspection of Three Wooden Boats in Singapore Waters
Singapore, 8th September 2026 – Our team recently completed the inspection of three wooden boats currently in service in Singapore as part of their ongoing maintenance and structural condition assessment.
The inspection focused on the overall condition of the wooden hulls, including visible structural areas, planking, framing, and other accessible components. The purpose was to identify deterioration and structural defects that may affect the vessels’ safety, reliability, and continued operation.
During the inspection, several areas of concern were identified across the three boats. The hull condition reflects the effects of long-term exposure to seawater, weather, moisture, and continuous operational use, which can gradually contribute to deterioration of wooden structural components.
Based on the inspection findings, a repair and modification plan has been prepared for all three boats. The vessels are planned to be brought ashore to allow proper access for fabrication, replacement, strengthening, and modification works.
Carrying out these repairs ashore will provide a safer and more controlled working environment, while allowing the identified structural issues to be properly addressed. The objective is to restore the condition of the hulls and support the boats’ continued safe and seaworthy operation.
The inspection and assessment were completed through close coordination between our technical team, operations personnel, boat owners, and other stakeholders involved in the vessels’ maintenance.
For wooden vessels, regular hull inspection is important because early identification of deterioration can help owners plan repairs before minor defects develop into more extensive structural problems.
